한우리이야기

한우리교회는 한국병원선교회로부터 시작합니다. 

1967년 5월 27일 황찬규(원로 목사)목사를 비롯한 한국 각 병원의 기독의료인들이 함께 모여 한국병원 연합전도회를 설립 후 세계병원선교회와 결연을 맺습니다. 동시에 한국병원선교회로 개명하여 한국, 유럽, 미국 등 세계 각 곳에 전도인을 파송하여 병원에서 환자들과 의료진들에게 복음 전하는 사역을 감당하였습니다. 

1976년 황찬규 목사는 뉴욕, 필라델피아, 뉴저지, 시카고, 로스앤젤레스, 라스베가스 등을 방문하며 미국 지역 병원선교 회원들을 심방하고 집회를 인도하였고 그 중 워싱턴 D.C.에서는 Washington 한인교회 및 김기황 회장과 정학수 총무 집에서 성회를 인도하게 되었습니다.

워싱턴 D.C. 집회 가운데 병원선교회 회원들에게 하나님께서는 교회 설립의 비전을 보여주셨고 1978년 11월 5일 김종건 집사의 집에서 29명이 모인 가운데 창립예배를 드리며 워싱톤 베데스다 교회(현 한우리 교회)가 시작 되었습니다.

1992년 현 교회 부지인 800 Randolph Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904 으로 교회 부지를 구입 및 이전하였으며 현재는 4대 목사인 김석진 담임목사와 함께 "매일의 삶에서 예수님만 예배하고 예수님만 자랑하고 전하는 교회"로 예수 잘 믿는 교회, 삶으로 예배 드리는 교회를 꿈꾸며 하나님께서 앞서 행하시고 그 뒤를 온 교회가 순종하기를 힘쓰며 나아가고 있습니다.

HBC Story

Hahnuri Baptist Church has its beginnings in the Korean Hospital Missions.

On May 27, 1967, Rev. Hwang Chan Kyu (Founder & Pastor Emeritus), along with medical personnel from various hospitals in Korea, established the Korean Hospital Missions (“KHM”).  KHM continues today with its purpose of sending out medical personnel missionaries into all parts of the world, including Europe, the Americas, and throughout Korea to preach and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the country’s hospital personnel and patients.

In 1976, Rev. Hwang led a missionary trip to New York, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C.  In Washington, D.C., Rev. Hwang conducted worship gatherings at Washington Korean (United Methodist) Church, and Ki Whang Kim (President of KHM-US) and Hak Soo Jung’s (Administrator of KHM-US) residences.  During one of these worship gatherings, God imparted the vision to the participants to establish a medical mission church in the Washington metropolitan area.

On November 5, 1978, the twenty-nine (29) people who gathered at Deacon Jong Gun Kim’s house conducted the inaugural worship service to birth Bethesda Church of Washington (the current Hahnuri Baptist Church (“Hahnuri”)).

In 1992, the church purchased and relocated to the current site at 800 Randolph Road, Silver Spring, Maryland.  Rev. Andy Seok Jin Kim leads and serves as the fourth pastor at Hahnuri.  Together with Rev. Kim, “We worship and honor Jesus in our daily lives, and we boast only Jesus as we convey His loving message to others.”  As we dream of a vibrant, faithful and worshipping church, we humbly follow our God who leads and goes before us.
